Concluding the Training of Trainers Programme on Active Learning for Academics and Faculty Members in Benghazi

The Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme on Active Learning concluded on Thursday, 25 June 2026, at the Higher Institute of Electrical and Electronics Technology in Benghazi. Implemented under the Digital Transformation component of the EU4Skills project, the programme is carried out by Expertise France in Libya with funding from the European Union in Libya and financial support from the French Government in Libya. The initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of higher and technical education institutions and promote modern teaching practices.

The closing ceremony featured a series of concluding and motivational remarks, followed by the distribution of certificates of completion to participants. The event was attended by Mr. Haitham Al-Mahmoudi, Head of the Scientific Affairs Office and Acting Dean of the Institute; Mr. Khaled Dou, Head of the Quality Assurance Office; Mr. Mohamed Al-Aswad, Deputy Programme Director at Expertise France in Libya; as well as the participants and trainers who delivered the programme.

This programme builds on a training pathway launched in 2025 in partnership with Esprit University in Tunisia, during which a group of Libyan academics participated in a series of specialised training sessions on modern teaching methodologies and innovative educational practices. To ensure the sustainability of the programme’s impact and facilitate knowledge transfer to Libyan educational institutions, three participants from the Esprit training programme took on the role of trainers during this phase: Mr. Walid Abdullah Ramadan, Mr. Ihab Al-Fallah, and Ms. Salima Al-Badri. They led the training sessions and shared the expertise they had acquired with their colleagues, helping to broaden the programme’s impact and ensure the sustainability of its outcomes.
