Strengthening Seafood Safety and Quality Standards Under the Blue Economy Framework

A specialized training program on seafood safety and quality standards launched today, November 8, 2026, in Tripoli, in collaboration with the Libyan Export Development Authority and key partner institutions.

Running through November 11, the training focuses on applying the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system across the fisheries, seafood, and aquaculture sectors.

The HACCP framework is a preventive system designed to identify food safety hazards and control critical points throughout production, minimizing risks and safeguarding product safety.

This training enhances participants’ technical skills in identifying potential hazards across the seafood supply chain, establishing critical control points, and applying effective preventive measures to ensure high quality and safety standards.

The workshop is organized under the EU4Skills project, funded by the European Union with co-funding from the French Government, and implemented by Expertise France in partnership with Libyan institutions. The initiative aims to enhance skills by strengthening institutional capacities in higher education, technical training, digital innovations, the green and blue economies, and financial inclusion.
