Strengthening Digital Skills: First Phase of GIS Training Concludes in Tripoli

The five-day training was delivered by Dr. Hussein Al-Ramali and brought together specialists and academics from various disciplines.

Through a comprehensive programme combining theoretical sessions with hands-on practical exercises, participants developed their skills in Geographic Information Systems, spatial data management, the creation and editing of geographic layers, satellite imagery processing, spatial analysis, and digital map production using QGIS.

The training strengthened participants’ technical capacities and enhanced their ability to apply geospatial technologies to support planning, evidence-based decision-making, and the sustainable management of natural resources.

This activity is implemented under the EU4Skills project, funded by the European Union, co-funded by the French Government, and implemented by Expertise France in partnership with Libyan institutions to enhance graduates’ capacities, improve employability, and bridge the skills gap, particularly in the digital, green, and blue economy sectors.
