Launch of a Training Workshop on Quality Management Systems in the Fisheries Sector
A training workshop on Quality Management Systems in the fisheries and fish products sector kicked off in Tripoli, in coordination with the Libyan Export Development Authority, as part of the activities of the third component of the EU4Skills project covering Green and Blue Economy. The workshop is taking place from 19 to 21 May 2026.
The workshop brings together representatives from several relevant institutions and entities, including branches of the Food and Drug Control Centers from across Libya, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Marine Biology Research Center, the National Center for Standardization and Metrology, the Ministry of Marine Wealth, and the Libyan Export Development Authority.
The workshop aims to strengthen participants’ capacities in quality management and its applications within the fish products sector, as well as environmental management and occupational health and safety, with a focus on relevant international standards and food safety requirements. It also seeks to support the alignment of Libyan fish products with international market requirements, while enhancing coordination and knowledge exchange among stakeholders across the fisheries value chain, contributing to improved sector competitiveness and export opportunities.
This workshop is part of the EU4Skills project, funded by the European Union with a financial contribution from the French Government. The project aims to develop skills, align education and training outcomes with labour market needs, support the transition toward green, blue, and digital economies in Libya, and promote financial inclusion.
