Vocational training is a key step towards bridging the gap between academic education and labour market requirements, particularly in the banking sector, where practical skills and specialized knowledge are essential. In this context, the EU4Skills project, funded by the European Union with financial support from the French Government, continues to support the Institute of Banking and Financial Training and Studies (IBFTS) in strengthening its role in advancing banking training and preparing professionals for Libya\u2019s financial sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of this cooperation, a specialized workshop was held in Benghazi on 14 October 2026 to work towards developing a national training program aimed at equipping university graduates with the skills needed to enter the banking labour market, through training tailored to the sector\u2019s needs and professional requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop was attended by Mr. Ahmed Othman, Director General of the Institute of Banking and Financial Training and Studies; Mr. Arthur Fran\u00e7ois, Head of the Economic Department at the French Embassy in Libya; Mr. Maxime Bost, Program Director at Expertise France Libya; and his deputy, Mr. Mohamed Alaswad, as well as representatives from several banks and universities, experts and graduates.
The workshop focused on designing a practical training program for graduates, drawing on real-life experiences and selected international models. Participatory discussions also explored the skills required, the structure of the training, and the roles of banks and universities in its implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This cooperation aims to develop a training program that responds to the actual needs of the banking sector, improves graduates\u2019 readiness for employment, and strengthens the Institute\u2019s role in designing and delivering specialized training programs that support the development of banking professionals in Libya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
