The Photovoltaic Systems Design course is designed to provide trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the design and operation principles of various photovoltaic systems and to perform engineering calculations related to these systems. Participants will first be introduced to the fundamentals and applications of photovoltaic systems, as well as the science of light radiation and the sun. They will also acquire the necessary skills for engineering design and selection of various solar and photovoltaic systems. They will also gain knowledge of photovoltaic technology, silicon, and equivalent circuits for solar cells, enabling them to calculate and estimate electrical loads and photovoltaic system capacity and determine power units. The course also aims to introduce participants to the environmental impact of non-renewable energy systems, the global warming phenomenon, and various alternative energy systems. They will also learn about photon energy and solar radiation in space, on the Earth’s surface, and horizontal and inclined surfaces.

The course takes you through the basic concepts of solar photovoltaic energy, such as the photon-electron phenomenon, the concept of power, energy, electrical loads, and even the concept of the effect of location on the productivity of solar panels.

Upon completing the course, you will be conversant with the opportunities and challenges of renewable energy technologies. You will be comfortable participating in debates and making decisions regarding these technologies.
