As part of its efforts to support digital transformation and strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions in Libya, EU4Skills launched a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on digital skills for academics and university professors.

The programme was first delivered from 17 to 21 May 2026 at Saraya Al-Hamra University in Tripoli, bringing together academics from universities and higher education institutions across the country. Designed to equip educators with the knowledge, tools, and methodologies needed to integrate digital skills into teaching and learning, the training focused on creating a multiplier effect, enabling participants to transfer their newly acquired expertise within their institutions.

Building on previous capacity-building activities implemented in collaboration with ESPRIT University in Tunisia, the programme introduced participants to innovative teaching methodologies and approaches to digital curriculum development. Through a combination of theoretical and practical sessions, academics explored the integration of digital technologies into higher education and strengthened their ability to deliver modern, learner-centred education.

The Training of Trainers programme was also delivered in Benghazi from 21 to 25 June 2026, hosted by the College of Electrical and Electronic Technology, bringing together another group of academics and university professors from eastern Libya. The sessions covered the same core themes, with participants developing practical skills in digital teaching methodologies while exchanging experiences and strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions.

By delivering the programme in multiple regions, EU4Skills is expanding access to quality professional development opportunities for university educators across Libya. Through this Training of Trainers approach, the project is helping universities build sustainable in-house expertise, supporting the integration of digital competencies into higher education and preparing graduates with the skills needed for an increasingly digital labour market.

These activities come as part of the EU4Skills project, funded by the European Union, co-funded by the French Government, and implemented by Expertise France in partnership with Libyan institutions.
